Hellmann virial series

This is the virial equation of state, where the virial coefficients were obtained as integrals over the (accurate!) interaction potential. The equation for methane includes virial coefficients up to the 8th order.

The equation of state gives a decent prediction of the critical point, but should not be used at higher densities than the critical one. In particular, it is not possible to calculate a vapour pressure curve. The equation can be used, hoever, for predicting gas properties at high temperature. This is particularly interesting for methane, for which the Wagner–Setzmann reference equation is limited to 650 K

adjustable parameters: 0
